Y'nolek, rider of bronze Agrith, is a character on NorCon MUSH.
Description:
A tall young man with a tendency to slouch, Y'nolek is nearly six feet in height, with long, thin arms and legs. His wavy hair is blond with a reddish glint, and he wears it loose, cut with rough ends that fall just past his chin. His eyes are a smoky grey, wide and serious under dark brows. He has a wide mouth and thin lips which smile only rarely, and his voice - when he uses it - comes as a surprise; on the high end of the tenor range, he could be mistaken for a woman by the sound of his voice alone. Y'nolek carries himself aloof, reserved, though always attentive to his surroundings.
Background:
Son of a Fortian bronzerider and his long-ago sea captain lover, Yinolek has lived most of his life at Fort Weyr. Reserved and lacking in confidence, he grew up feeling he'd never measure up to his outgoing father. As a youth, he bounced around from one possible future to the next, never finding something to settle on. Ships made him horribly seasick; apprenticing to the seacraft was out. Though he had decent handwriting, he didn't have the patience or tolerance for dusty record rooms necessary to be a scribe, and he certainly didn't have enough musical talent to be accepted at Harper Hall. His job in stores ended the same sevenday it began, after he dropped and smashed an entire crate of dishes. That was when a frustrated member of the headwomen's staff sent him to the nursery with scissors to cut the children's hair. He turned out to have a surprising knack for it, and was assigned to set up shop in the bathing caverns during regular hours to offer haircuts. Being naturally quiet, he wasn't as friendly and chatty as most barbers, but that suited people who only wanted their hair cut and nothing more. When Yinolek was invited to stand for Peirith and Zaiventh's clutch, he did so more out of a sense of duty than an expectation or desire to impress. Agrith came as a complete surprise.
